Frequently Asked Questions

1. What exactly is doggie daycare?

Doggie daycare works a lot like a daycare center for children, only that these kids have 4 legs. You drop your canine friend off and then pick him or her up later in the day. During your dog’s stay at daycare, he or she will be able to socialize with people and other dogs. We also offer dog wash, teeth brushing and nail trimming that can be done during daycare.

2. What are the benefits of taking my dog to doggie daycare?

Plenty! Dogs are social animals and benefit from being able to interact with other dogs. They’ll learn to get along with others, get some exercise and have a lot of fun! It also eases your mind knowing your dog is being entertained in a healthy and safe way while you’re gone.

3. It's my pet's first time at Lazy Dog Crazy Dog, what do I need to bring?

Please bring your dog’s current vaccination records. We require Bordetella, Parvo, Distemper and Rabies to be up date. All intranasal Bordetella vaccinations have to be current within the past 6 months.

4. What should I bring for boarding?

Please bring sufficient food for your dog’s stay. We have plenty of toys, treats, bedding and food/water dishes, but please feel free to bring your pet’s bed, blanket, food dish, treats or favorite toy to help him or her feel more at home.

5. What happens at the evaluation/interview?

We meet you and your dog and go over registration forms and vaccination records. Your canine friend will get to check out our facility and us and meet some new friends. We encourage you to leave him or her with us for at least 2 hours to get fully comfortable to come back for daycare and/or boarding.

6. How are new dogs introduced?

New dogs are introduced to their new friends one at a time. Introductions may start in the lobby, a more neutral area, and then move into the main play area. After your dog is comfortable with meeting a new friend who has a similar energy level, another dog is introduced and this process is repeated until your pet has met and is comfortable with all of his/her new friends.

7. Are the dogs indoors or out most of the time?

The dogs spend most the day in our indoor playground. Daycare dogs get 2 walks and our boarding guests get 3-4 walks a day.

8. What will my dog do all day?

Run! Play! Chase! Fetch! Tug-of-war! Wrestle! Socialize with friends, go on a walk around Montavilla and Mt. Tabor and meet new friends. Boarding dogs get family and one-on-one time, which involves belly rubs and cuddles.

9. Where does my dog go potty?

Our daycare guests go on 2 walks and our boarding guests get 3-4 walks a day. Because there are so many smells here, a lot of our guests go potty when and where they like. This is normal and staff is with the dogs at all times to immediately clean up after them.

10. If my dog goes potty anywhere he likes at daycare will he do this at home?

No, not at all! Dogs are very good at learning they can do one behavior in one location and another behavior in a different location. If your pet is housetrained at home, he/she will remain so, as there aren’t 10-15 doggies with all their scents and odors there.

11. Are small dogs put together with big dogs?

We put our guests with friends who have a same or similar play style and energy level, not according to size, unless you or your 4-legged kid have a preference.

12. Is my dog supervised at all times?

Yes, there is one supervisor to every 10 dogs. The supervisor makes sure that all the dogs are safe and having fun. There is staff at the facility 24 hours a day so boarding dogs are never left alone.

13. Can I see where my dog will be staying and/or playing?

Definitely! We have a viewing window in the lobby for you to see the sleeping areas and/or watch your 4-legged buddy play.

14. How can I be sure that the play space is clean, odor and disease-free, comfortable and safe?

Lazy Dog Crazy Dog clean and disinfect nightly, regardless of how many dogs have visited. We require all dogs to be up to date on all vaccinations and to have been healthy for the past 5 days before visiting our facility. There is 24-hour supervision to make sure all our guests are safe and comfortable.

15. Is the facility well equipped with toys, bedding and supplies?

We have plenty of Kongs, bones, Nylabones, tennis balls, Kong balls, Frisbees and ropes. We provide elevated dogs beds, cushy beds and blankets for bedding. We also sell Canidae dog food.

16. Is the staff mature, knowledgeable, courteous, professional and patient at all times?

All of our staff has years of experience with dogs and dog pack behavior. We are also certified in Dog First Aid and CPR and certified by the Pet Care Services Association.

17. Is there a great deal of noise/barking?

The dogs tend to be quiet during play and bed time. The most barking happens when someone visits in the lobby. Noise is kept to a minimum (for the dogs anyways!).

18. Are there specific pick up and drop off hours?

You can drop off and pick up your dog anytime during our opening hours:

Monday - Friday: 6:30am to 6:30pm  (closed 11:30am to 1:30pm)
Saturday:           9:00am to 5:00pm (closed 12:00pm to 1:00pm)
Sunday:             9:00am to 10:00am and 4:00 to 5:00pm (boarding only)

19. Do you feed my pet during daycare?

If you would like your pet to eat while at daycare, please bring his or her food or treats and let us know what time to feed him/her. There is no extra cost to feed your pet while in daycare.

20. My pet has special needs. Will this cost extra?

Special dietary needs and administering medication do not cost extra. If your pet requires injections this will be discussed with you during the evaluation process. Pets with handicaps are welcome at daycare and boarding and will be placed in an appropriate playgroup.

21. If I board my dog, will he/she be in a kennel most of the time?

Not at all if that’s your preference! As long your as canine friend is dog friendly, he/she will spend the day playing with other boarding and daycare dogs and going on walks. Your dog has a choice of a 6’x4’ private suite, a private 8’x13’ area or sleeping with his/her friends in a social environment. There is always staff present at the facility, so dogs are completely safe whether they sleep with their friends or in their own suite.
